Before you get up to pack your bag, first think about the important things you’ll need to bring with you. Therefore, do not pack your bags with things that you can easily buy in stores such as toiletries, or simple office and household items.

You can also save extra space by leaving some unnecessary clothes; Because if the weather in your new destination is not like the climate of your home country that you are used to, you will have to buy new clothes that match the weather of the new country.

Prepare your personal bag smoothly to make it easier for you to carry it on a daily basis, and do not forget to put a distinctive mark on it. It is worth noting that many universities provide a free airport pick-up and drop-off service for international students.

Learn more tips on organizing your bags before you travel.

2) Take advantage of technology

In such a digital world, it would be very beneficial for you to upload copies of the documents and documents you will need and the music you like on cloud digital storage tools and services, so that it is easy for you to access them wherever and whenever you want. Likewise, save the numbers and data of your most important and private contacts in Google Documents or any similar online or digital software and services. It is also okay for you to keep some hard copies of the documents you need.

It is also useful to download electronic messaging applications on your mobile phone so that you can contact your family members and friends after you have access to any Wi-Fi network. We also advise you to go to the nearest technical store after your arrival to buy a local SIM card.

Do not forget to bring or buy some electrical connectors with various outlets, in order to make it easier for you to connect several electrical devices at the same time. And if the quality of the electrical outlets in the new country is completely different from the quality in your home country, you should buy an electrical transformer as soon as possible so as not to damage your electronic devices.

3) Choose your accommodation carefully

Your choice of new residence will have a direct impact on your studies, your educational path, and your right to personal well-being in general. Therefore, do extensive research online before choosing your new home.

In fact, your IDP advisor can help you explore available housing options, such as homestay, hostel accommodation, rental apartments or university townships, and come to a decision that suits your needs and budget at the same time.

To get to know your new surroundings, manage your new home in a friendly and easy way through “open communication” with your neighbors and co-students. It is a great idea to make paper notes and stick them in a place where your colleagues, friends or neighbors can see them (such as the refrigerator or the bathroom mirror).

The truth of the matter is that the difficulty of living with different personal habits can never be overlooked, and to overcome this is essential, never be shy about agreeing with your roommates, roommates or neighbors on some clear rules and responsibilities from the start.

Find out more tips about accommodation and living abroad with new friends.

4) Spend your money wisely

If you are going to live in a country that is notorious for its high cost of living, you undoubtedly need to set your budget carefully from the start. You will be able to save a great deal of money by using the student travel saving cards. But before buying it, know precisely the areas of the city in which you will study and the neighborhoods in which your residence and university are located.

And most importantly, regardless of whether you have cooking experience or not, you still definitely need to learn some cooking basics because that point is a major factor in saving a good amount of money on a daily basis.

Moreover, don’t go shopping whenever that idea pops into your head, it’s better for you to wait for sales periods which are the best times to shop and buy your needs. It is also important to always keep a margin amount in your monthly budget to cover emergency and unplanned expenses.

Learn how to save money abroad with these tips.

5) Mingle with new people

Many universities hire personal assistants or mentors from older students to make sure that you integrate as an international student into your new environment once you are there. IDP also organizes pre-departure events to help you meet many students from your home country who will go to study with you at your university or in the city where you will be staying.

Also, be sure to make good use of social media, for example, look for group chat groups for students of your university or city where you live. Through this, before you travel, you will get to know quite a few people with whom you may live in the future or go together to the same department and college lectures!

Studying abroad is truly more than an educational process, it is a holistic subjective experience

In fact, obtaining an international certificate not only broadens your personal horizons and increases your professional and job opportunities, but also enriches your life and social experiences. Here are some reasons why you should consider studying abroad:

1- A variety of fields of study

Study abroad offers you a wide variety of programs and fields of study to choose from, some of which even include great opportunities for research work and practical training based on students’ skills. This undoubtedly helps broaden your horizons and opens up a world of new educational opportunities for you. Not only that, some programs abroad also allow you to take dual study programs in more than one different major at the same time. Through this seamless system, you can keep track of your interests in the field of literature while studying mathematics, for example. To this end, IDP cooperates through official partnerships with more than 800 universities and colleges around the world. You can be sure that you will find what you are looking for with us. Whether it be highly specialized and research study programs or programs of study with a unique and encouraging study environment, we can help you find the best match for you.

2- Developing your capabilities and improving your career opportunities

Major international companies are looking for international graduates with internationally recognized global degrees. Obtaining an international university degree gives the employer the impression that you are an enterprising person, your flexibility of thought, your cultural awareness, and your ability to work together. This unique study experience puts you ahead of the curve when it comes to the job market and career.

3- To deepen the understanding of the foreign language and the new society

Scientific studies show that integrating into society and getting used to dealing with others is one of the best ways to learn the language of this new society fluently, as it gives you a great ability to understand the culture of that group of people. Since you will be interacting with native English speakers every day while studying abroad as an international student, you will be able to understand English in its cultural context more easily.

Living, studying and working in English may seem daunting at first, but you will be amazed at how quickly you can learn, get used to and adapt. Communication in English will help you to trust yourself and your abilities, to excel in your studies, to make new friends from all over the world, and you will be able to access many professional connections and job opportunities.

4- Exposure to a variety of international experiences

Studying abroad helps you learn new ways of dealing with different situations, how to manage your time between study and work, and experience dealing with a group of people from different backgrounds. This, in turn, also helps you to absorb and develop your life and social experiences in general.

5- You have a broad global perspective

The mindset of students studying abroad develops to become well-informed, with broader perspectives, and more aware of different cultures and other people. Whatever your study or field of specialization, the ability to think from a multi-faceted perspective will help you face new and emerging challenges, as well as come up with innovative solutions in the future. You will graduate with a rich set of experiences that will allow you to think more openly and creatively. As you learn to view the world through different lenses, you’ll also learn new things about your native country and culture.

6- A wonderful life experience

Your study abroad experience does not end at the campus gates. During weekends and long holidays, you will have the opportunity to travel to the many exciting areas of your study destination. And those travel experiences will give you many gains and different experiences from your home country and will build interesting stories for you with your friends and colleagues.

Benefits of obtaining a bachelor’s degree from abroad

As an international student who has recently graduated from school, the opportunity to study abroad will give you an additional advantage over others because you will be exposed to a different way of learning, benefit from work experience at an early stage in your life, increase your understanding of different cultures, and expand your chances of finding successful career options.

Benefits of obtaining a postgraduate degree from abroad

This postgraduate certificate will enhance your practical skills, give your resume a strong boost compared to your peers, and help you develop your social and professional network.

Do you want to apply for a student visa application in Britain? Here’s a complete guide to know everything you need about UK student visa requirements, as well as visa application fees and procedures.

If you have already made the decision to study in Britain , congratulations to you because it is the ideal choice for studying and living, and it also provides a lot of job opportunities while studying , but you will be required to prepare a student visa to enter Britain before packing your bags.

The type of visa required depends on your age and the level of education you want to attend. Therefore, you should know everything you need about the types of study visas in Britain and the application requirements.

Types of student visas to study in Britain

Britain offers 3 types of study visas for international students. Find out now about all types of visas, who they are for, when to apply for them, and more.

Short-term study visa  Students who have an offer of admission to study on a short-term study program in the UK, such as English language courses or vocational training programmes.  3 months before you are due to travel to the UK.  According to the proposed travel dates for the program.

To be eligible for a student visa, you must have:

  • An unconditional offer of admission to a program of study with an authorized sponsor.
  • Sufficient money to support yourself and pay the course fees.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.

For more information, you can visit the official British Government Visas and Immigration website .

Applying for a UK visa online

You must apply for a student visa in the UK online using the official UK government website Gov.UK (if you are applying from North Korea, in this case you will have to apply on a paper form).

It is worth noting that you can apply up to three months before the scheduled date of travel to Britain, as the application date is the date on which you pay the application fee.

Student visa requirements

The documents required to obtain a student visa in Britain are as follows:

  • Confirmation letter of admission to study at the university or educational institution , application reference number and documents submitted to obtain the acceptance letter

  • Certificate of Accreditation of Academic Studies in Technology (ATAS) plan, if required

As part of the application process, you must obtain a biometric residence permit from Visas and Immigration and therefore will be scheduled with Visas and Immigration to have your fingers and thumb scanned and a digital photograph of your face taken.

London is one of the largest cities in the world and one of the most vibrant cities. Therefore, it is a unique tourist destination. Because it is a city of diverse cultures and nationalities.

There is nothing you can think of that you will not find here in London. Do you want to play in a big room full of little colorful balls? All this and more is available in London. Then how about a museum filled with glass jars of preserved objects? All this is in London as well.

And the best thing about this city is that you can achieve everything you dream of, it is a big city and one of the best cities in the world. It’s also full of experiences waiting to be shared, whether making new friends, picking up a new hobby, or discovering a new food, the possibilities are endless.

Safety in London

Who can help you?

Living in this big city can be intimidating at first; So the first thing you can do is keep the emergency phone number. Therefore, if you need the police, fire or ambulance, call 999, and the agent will ask you which emergency service you need.

If you find that you are not in an emergency situation, but you still need to contact the police, you can call 101, and an employee will help you solve your problem.

Think about your safety

As in any big city, you have to react quickly. It is not wise to walk in large parks or by the canal after dark, as these places are quite unsafe and there are no people willing to help you.

Although London is not full of people willing to help you, the people are kind enough. It is not common or customary here to talk to strangers on public transportation.

And you should keep your luggage well, as theft of mobile phones has increased in recent years. Therefore, we advise you to keep your valuables out of sight, so as not to show off your phone to thieves.

feeling safe

After talking about your physical well-being, let’s talk about your psychological well-being. If you feel bored from studying, there are some things you can do to overcome feelings of anxiety, deprivation, or even homesickness. There is a student union at the university that can help you overcome your problems. The Federation offers counseling services to help you find advice and support. Most universities allocate a certain time to respond to students’ requests and help them.

Some universities have started using dogs as pets to help ease students’ fears at exam time. If you feel you need this help, go back to the university administration and ask them if they would consider providing this service while you are on campus.

Release some stress

If you feel you don’t need counseling and find yourself looking to decompress, then you should take advantage of the London outings.

Park Run welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels to run a 5km run together every Saturday morning. Although it may not sound exciting, it can be very fun, as it helps you meet new people. It also helps you feel the community around you, making you feel at home.

And if you are not a fan of jogging, you can try swimming, as in London there are a lot of outdoor pools called lidos, some of which have heated water, others are not. And if you want to test your mental strength, try joining the winter membership, when temperatures in some baths drop to 3 degrees Celsius, and sometimes the water freezes. The sport of swimming in cold water has witnessed a great demand from many in the past few years, because of its many health benefits, including maintaining mental and physical health.

Discover London through its restaurants

The best way to explore London is to try its delicious food. London is a cultural center of distinction, and the experience of seeking out the best that the city has to offer can help you enjoy some unique adventures and get to some places you would never have thought of.

Where do you find curry?

Most people know that people who want curry go to Brick Lane, but they don’t know that London has the best curries.

And when you are on the weekend and need a delicious meal or when you miss your homeland, you have to go to Dishoom Restaurant . This restaurant has four branches across the city, and the flavor you get for your hard-earned dollar is more than worth it. Brick Lane serves a variety of authentic dishes with balanced spices. The chefs are always creating new dishes for the customers.

For pasta lovers

If you like pasta, go to Padella near Borough Market. And if you don’t mind waiting, keep in mind that this place is always packed right from the first moment until it closes. And once you get there, you’ll know why.

This restaurant serves all kinds of homemade pasta, and the dishes in which the food is served have been specially imported from Italy. And if you have not tried the local pasta before, this restaurant will fulfill your ambition.

Eat breakfast like the English

Do you want a big breakfast? The classic full English breakfast (eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, sausage and bacon, beans) is served just about everywhere in London and in various variations, but don’t be fooled, there are some that are just as cheap.

And if you want a breakfast that really packs a punch and puts a modern spin on old-school life, there’s no better place than The Breakfast Club . There are three different branches of this restaurant, but the most famous is Shoreditch.

Places worth visiting, not tourist

Sure, everyone can visit Tower Bridge, the phone box or the double-decker bus, but to feel like a city dweller, and to appear at home to your friends and family, there are a few places you shouldn’t miss.

When we talk about the ranking of world universities, we will find that the United Kingdom is highly ranked. According to the Times World University Rankings 2017-2018, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge ranked first and second, respectively, and Imperial College London ranked eighth.

The United Kingdom also enjoys a distinguished position in all other international rankings, and in all evaluation criteria and fields of study, due to its distinction in terms of education quality, student satisfaction and international reputation.

The UK is also known for innovation and world-class research, where you can benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and devices along with great academic experience; That is why many international students choose to study in the UK to improve their English and develop their future careers.

How does the UK education system work?

Each of the UK’s four states, namely England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, has responsibility for higher education in its own territory. There are differences between the four states in terms of the educational systems in place, the qualifications required, and how these systems work. These differences appear more clearly in general and secondary education; Therefore, there are many different qualifications and credit frameworks.

Educational qualifications frameworks

There are two parallel frameworks for higher education qualifications awarded by educational institutions in the United Kingdom; One is in operation in Scotland and the other in the rest of the United Kingdom, namely:

  • The Framework for Higher Education Qualifications of Degree Awarding Bodies in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ)
  • The Framework for Qualifications of Higher Education Institutions in Scotland (FQHEIS).

These frameworks are the main national reference for academic standards in UK higher education institutions. There are 160 universities and colleges in the United Kingdom that are allowed to award many degrees that suit the aspirations of many.

Tuition fees

Fees for higher education and further education programs in the UK vary based on the following:

  • Where you choose to study (there are different laws governing the educational process in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales)
  • level of study

For undergraduates, tuition fees range from 10,000 to around £18,000 per annum, depending on the program of study and the educational institution. As for postgraduate programs, tuition fees vary according to the educational institution offering the study programme.

Scholarships

There are many financial support options that are offered to international students who wish to enroll in study programs in the United Kingdom, including scholarships, grants, partial grants, financial rewards, and others. Scholarships are always more in demand than available; To seize the opportunity, you must submit your application early.

You can search for suitable scholarship options through the websites of the colleges and universities that you wish to enroll in, and this must be done well in advance of the start of the academic program, as it is difficult to find available opportunities for scholarships after the beginning of the study or in the middle of the year.

Teaching and learning style in the United Kingdom

Education in the UK enjoys an outstanding reputation, and most international students find that British educational institutions offer a high degree of quality education. A student can receive education in many different ways, where he can attend lectures and seminars, and sometimes lessons and workshops.

While taking a course in the UK, you will have a lot of freedom to explore your ideas and creativity. You are expected to be an active member of the teaching and learning process, as you will research or work in groups with other students to complete the projects required of you. UK universities encourage the development of critical and analytical thinking in every subject, which can be daunting for some international students at first. However, this will develop in you a deeper understanding of the material and the communication skills required.

Education in the UK is highly interactive, with teachers encouraging you to share ideas and organizing activities such as debates, discussions and quizzes. The idea is that by sharing and having fun, you will successfully learn a lot. This way of learning may seem strange at first, but students must receive a lot of support from their teachers to feel comfortable after a short period of time.

The Prepare for Success website is a great resource for students wanting to find out lots of information about classes and teaching in the UK and tips on how to succeed.

Higher Education

Most educational institutions offer a variety of preparatory study programs for local and international students to move on to further education at university. These programs are usually referred to as pathways or foundation programmes.

Students can enter higher education programs to obtain an advanced degree and continue their studies in the UK. There are three main types of higher education, which lead to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

Bachelor’s or undergraduate degrees

Studying an undergraduate degree aims to help students obtain a comprehensive knowledge of a subject or major. Bachelor’s degrees are classified into ordinary or honors degrees. An ‘ordinary’ degree is normally a three-year full-time program of study, while an ‘honours’ degree requires four years of full-time study.

Graduate studies after graduation

If you have finished an undergraduate degree, how do you know that postgraduate study in the UK is the next stage for you? Deciding to graduate school is an important step, but it means sacrificing a lot of time and being away from work for a bit longer. However, it may be a worthwhile investment in the long run.

Qualifying study programmes

Higher education institutions offer qualifying study programs for international students, including Foundation Studies and English Language Preparation programmes, to ensure that students receive the extra support and help they need to succeed.

academic year in the United Kingdom

The academic year in the UK starts in September or October and ends in June or July. Some courses are very flexible, allowing you to start on multiple dates. The deadline for submitting applications for enrollment in university studies, which begins in September, is January, with the beginning of the Gregorian year. There are also a limited number of undergraduate, foundation, master’s and doctoral programs that can be registered in January. Some foundation colleges offer access to these programs on other dates throughout the year.

Learn English in the UK

The UK is the best destination in the world to study English (according to Study Travel magazine, December 2012). The UK has long been at the forefront of English language teaching, pioneering the use of the best scientific methods currently in use around the world.

British institutions focus on teaching English through fun and sharing rather than just listening to the teacher. Classes include games, problem solving and discussions. Students can also listen to songs, watch movies and read magazines to practice improving their English comprehension skills.

Universities and colleges offer many English language courses to help international students prepare for study programs in the UK. Universities use the term pre-sessional English courses to refer to such programmes.

The government has announced significant changes to the English language tests accepted for visa applications, reducing the number of tests required for these purposes and introducing a range of new requirements for the way tests are administered. IELTS, the world’s most popular test of English for higher education and global migration, is accepted as accepted for all UK visas that require applicants to provide evidence of their level of English.

The UK Visas and Immigration Agency accepts IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training and IELTS Life Skills as proof of English language proficiency, but the purpose of a student’s presence in the UK is what determines which type of IELTS test the student must take. to conduct it.
